2025 Election

The map may have changed but not our power.

What’s at stake for you?

There have been dramatic changes to where and how we vote in this year’s September and November elections. Keeping up with them is an absolute must. Over 73,000 voters will be impacted. That likely means you, your family, or someone on your block. Voting matters more than ever – and being prepared is power.

WHEN VOTERS ARE LOST,  VOTES ARE LOST.

What has changed?

  • Due to a decline in population, we went from 17 wards to 15.

  • Voting maps have been redrawn, resulting in new districts and polling locations for 30% of Cleveland voters.

  • Even the Board of Elections – where all in-person early voting takes place – has a new address.

What areas have been affected?

  • Some neighborhoods, especially Slavic Village, Central neighborhood, and parts of Old Brooklyn, have been split or merged into new wards.
  • EastSide wards were redrawn significantly.
  • Do you have a new ward and a new polling place?
    Find out here.

What is GCC doing?

We are organizing – because Democracy doesn’t defend itself. Right now we’re in neighborhoods connecting with residents and holding trainings on the map changes to keep voters informed.

Starting January 2026, the new ward maps take effect. This fall, it is up to us to elect the people who will set precedents and priorities for these wards, deciding how resources will be directed, and shaping policies that impact our neighborhoods for years to come.

Understanding the new maps isn’t optional. It’s power. Let’s learn them. Let’s spread the word. Let’s make sure our whole community is seen, heard, and counted.

Education sessions, trainings, and taking action is how we ensure every neighborhood is a priority. GCC remains committed to building community power and advancing the changes we seek. Stay tuned for our fall action calendar.

About our ongoing

Battle for Democracy Initiative

Because power belongs to the people.

Voter suppression and depression are real.

Civic participation is at the heart of what we do at GCC. We know that voting is one of the most direct ways communities shape the decisions that affect their lives — and that real barriers to participation exist.

We make calls, knock doors, and build relationships to support voter registration, engage lapsed voters, and help first-time voters get to the polls. We’re committed to making sure everyone who wants to vote can vote.

Greater Cleveland Congregations is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization. This voter education activity is not made in coordination with or on behalf of any candidate or political party.

Inspiring hope in young voters

VOTER VIRGINITY

For first-time voters, casting a ballot is a rite of passage — something worth celebrating. Our Voter Virginity campaign is designed to spark action among new and lapsed voters. Because voting isn’t just about policy. It’s about power — and power grows vote by vote, conversation by conversation.

We know relational organizing works. Can we prove it?

The Union of Concerned Scientists sure can.

We believe in the power of relationships. We know that great things can happen when we listen to people and work together to make Greater Cleveland greater for all of us.

“By listening to and lifting up voices in marginalized communities, and providing greater efficiency and effectiveness in building community leadership, structural voting barriers can be broken down and more inclusive, voter-friendly electoral laws can be implemented.”
– Union of Concerned Scientists
