Voter registration, absentee / in-person voting, election day and more

October 7th Voter registration closes

October 29th Vote-by-mail / absentee ballot applications need to be received by 8:30 p.m.

In-person & vote-by-mail (absentee) voting

October 8th Voting for both in-person and absentee starts

November 3rd Voting in-person at the board of elections ends at 5:00 p.m.

November 9th All absentee ballots mailed anywhere in the U.S. must be postmarked on or before this date

Election Day

November 5th 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. voting at polling locations

All absentee ballots returned in person must be received at the board of elections by 7:30 p.m.

2024 Battle for Democracy Initiative

Power to the people, not politicians.

To fight gerrymandering, GCC joined the Citizens Not Politicians campaign to place a constitutional amendment on the November 2024 ballot that would overhaul Ohio’s redistricting process so politicians can no longer draw their own districts and rule them like little fiefdoms.

GCC collected over 13,000 signatures. A total of 731,000 petition signatures were delivered to Ohio’s secretary of state to help end gerrymandering in Ohio once and for all.

Politicians wanted to confuse us by burying this ballot in a lot of confusing language that hides what they’re trying to do to our maps.

But we see through it, and we’ve had enough. This is our opportunity to take our power and end the swindle of controlling our maps.  (By letting the people draw the maps)

Stand with us and vote yes and end gerrymandering once and for all!

A “YES” VOTE
means you support the creation of the Ohio Citizens Redistricting Commission – a group of 15 regular people (not politicians) who would be in charge of deciding how to redraw voting district maps.

A “NO” VOTE
means you support keeping the current system, where politicians benefit themselves by deciding how voting district maps are drawn – through the Ohio Redistricting Commission (set up in 2015).

2023 Voting No on Issue 1

In the special election in August, 2023, Ohio politicians tried to get an amendment passed that would’ve hurt everyone in Ohio. Except, of course, politicians.

Power to the people,  not politicians.

2020 Voter Engagement

In the fall of 2020, we trained 285 leaders to alert voters whose ballot applications had been rejected. We made 13,000 voter contact calls, sent 650 emails and delivered 1,500 door hangers. The result: 7,000 applications were corrected!
