REDUCE YOUTH BINDOVER | A GCC REPORT
Transferring juvenile cases to adult court and, ultimately, juveniles to adult prison DOES NOT REDUCE CRIME.
Bindover strips easy access to the services young people desire and need to grow into productive adults.
In Cuyahoga County, teens are bound over four times more than the four other urban counties in Ohio combined.
THIS MUST STOP.
GCC volunteers immersed themselves in juvenile court hearings. The CourtWatch Team attended — with court permission and a promise of confidentiality for youth and their families — over 140 juvenile court hearings between 2023-2025.
Our CourtWatch Executive Summary and Full Report describes in great detail what is happening in our county and what needs to change in the juvenile justice system at the state and local level to keep our cities and our youth safe.
Children should be held accountable for their decisions and actions.
After reading this report, you will know why the adult system is NOT the place to do so.
